‘I recently joined one of Alison Pierse’s historical walks through Aberystwyth, and it proved an unalloyed delight, quite possibly the most enjoyable and memorable town tour I have experienced, transforming an ordinary walk into an immersive theatrical experience with a Halloween theme.

A particular highlight was the ingeniously themed refreshment stop at Baravin, where Halloween-inspired fare — including “dead man’s fingers” pastries, complete with almond fingernails — added a delightfully macabre flourish and demonstrated real creative flair.

Alison is a superb guide: erudite, engaging, and gifted at weaving verifiable history together with folklore and theatrical storytelling. What might have been a conventional walking tour instead became a living stage along the promenade and streets of the town.

Her enthusiasm is wonderfully infectious, and she has a rare gift for bringing local history vividly to life instead of leaving it dry and distant.’
