History walking tours that are fun, a bit cheeky, sociable and contain fascinating facts delivered by aberdabbadoo.
This season, I have been showered with positive comments. I am indebted to those who have left reviews that have left me really humbled. Big… thank you. I would like to share these reviews as I finish the season.
Of course, it isn’t me alone, I have a team of supporters and collaborators, who contribute to the success; Mashed brewing shop, Jon Bell the musician, The Chai Bike, Goncalo, Calm Crafts, Climate Shop, and Dragonfly bistro, who work hard to give you that unique aberdabbadoo and Aberystwyth experience!
I am also striving to keep my business sustainable. Is this of interest to you? Sustainability mission
‘ I thought I knew Aberystwyth, but this was a real eye-opener!’
Here we go…comments from Ahoy M’ hearties Maritime walk.
‘What a fun evening we had, discovering some of the maritime history of Aberystwyth! We meandered through the streets and alleyways of town, and were able to get a feel of life in the town as a Master Mariner, a ship hand or a lowly peasant. We sampled some modern beers of today, and sang together some old sea shanties . There is a wealth of Aberystwyth history in our fabulous museum, but this walk enabled you to tread in the steps of sailors of the past, making Aberystwyth what it is today. Thank you Alison and Ernest for sharing your nautical research and knowledge with us. Can definitely recommend this walk, you won’t be disappointed!‘

Rosemary’s Legacy walking tour- a poignant love story of love, loss and longing takes you back to Aberystwyth during World War 2.
I have many reviews from this tour; ‘It was a delightful experience which we all enjoyed. We were all very invested in the story as it unraveled and wanted to know more at the end. the walk took us to a new cafe which served very delicious cake and perfect tea which was fabulous. We would all recommend this for anyone who loved to be immersed into history ad stories of love, lost and happily found again. Please pass on how much pleasure we took from this experience.’
and…‘From the start of the love story walk to the end was a fascinating journey through the lives of these 2 people during WW2. That’s all I will say I don’t want to spoil the tour but do book you will not be disappointed it was a wonderful morning. The stop for a drink and cake and to chat was fun too.’

Mosaics walking tour: an immersive experience; a bit of detective work and history brought to you with a fun and sociable delivery.
But what do people say? ‘What an enjoyable evening, guided by Alison, through the streets of Aberystwyth, discovering some of the beautiful threshold and wall mosaics. So easy not to have noticed these amazing creations before! Alison shared her extensive knowledge with the group, which was both informative and fascinating . I just hope I can remember all that I learned! The walk was well organised and other useful information provided beforehand. Can highly recommend this evening stroll, and to learn so much about Aberystwyth and its history. Thank you!’ Its a pleasure
I make mosaics too, so the passion is there.. ad we have some exceptional examples in Aber….’Alison is very knowledgeable about the history of the mosaics around Aberystwyth. She also began designing and making mosaics herself in the 1980s. As a local of 20 years I was aware of some of the doorway mosaics but Alison encouraged us to look up at the original signage on particular buildings and for me it blew my mind. I have always loved mosaics since visiting Roman mosaics as a child. This experience was just as enjoyable. I won’t put any spoilers in my review but I would very much recommend Alison’s Aberdabbadoo – Night on the Tiles heritage walk. I am also looking forward to another of her walks where she explains about the sculptures on Old College but unfortunately at present it has scaffolding up as it is being renovated.’ Yes, that tour will return..not long to wait.
