Here is a free quiz activity quest for you from me with a big cwtch.

Download the following questions and once complete, give in your form to the Aberystwyth Tourist Information Office to get your dragon sticker.

‘Where there be dragons.’ Join the quest.

Dragons aren’t just for flags! Explore our town’s dragons. Not all dragons are red either.

The red dragon is the symbol of Cadwaladar, King of Gwynedd who lived between 655 to 682.

1. Start your trail at the tourist information shop window. How many colours of red can you spot in the flying dragon mosaic?

There are            reds.              

• It is rare to be able to sit on a dragon….but you can in Aberystwyth. There are over 20 of them on the promenade.

               What colour are they?

Note the metal dragon gate on the children’s section of the promenade  by the wooden jetty.

• Opposite the pier there is a building called Y Cambria. Look above the doorway. There was a carved pelican piercing it’s chest which has crumbled away. It is a Christian symbol of sacrifice. You can still see part of his long beak. The dragon is still there on the left-hand side. Draw him on the back of this sheet.

• Wander to Castle Point. Look for the memorial of the fallen local men who sacrificed their lives for our freedom during World War Two.

You will see a bronze dragon on the column. What is written under the dragon. Fill in the gap.

• Go along to Pier Street, you will find a large dragon flag in a pub window. Look in the window of the shop opposite. There will be a dragon plate displayed. It was made during the Arts and Crafts period.

What is it made of?

Wander down the main street of the town and take a left-hand turn into Market Street. You will find a display of dragon themed books and your final quest. There is another dragon in the window made of mosaic. He has a gold tooth.

Give him a name.
