I have just been listening to Jeremy Vine. Much of my days since finishing ‘real work’ are all about and revolve around weather windows. I am constantly on weather apps trying to find a run of a good few days to run walks.

Today tourist sites across the UK are shouting that the weather apps on phones deter visitors. I completely agree! Large tourist attractions such as Blackpool, Chester Zoo claim that weather apps loose approximately 30% of their turn over.

I have three apps on my phone and invariably they all contradict each other. The rain symbol is regularly added to the hourly forecast whether it will rain for 10 minutes or 2 hours. It isn’t helpful at all for us that run outdoor events.

Why can’t the apps state the length / strength of the shower? It undermines visitor’s confidence and gives the UK a reputation as rainy all the time….which it isn’t!

Rant, rant, over. Thank you and bravo Jeremy, music to my ears; let’s hope there may be some changes.

Now what’s the weather going to be like tomorrow I have tickets for teh Rheidol Railway!
